This prestigious original Vintage Luxury Wedgwood Blue Jasperware Trinket box, from the infamous English potter and entrepreneur Josiah Wedgwood, will make a great addition to any lady den, or to set off on its own in a place of honor.
Wedgwood is a fine china, porcelain, and luxury accessories manufacturer that was founded on 1 May 1759. It was rapidly successful and was soon one of the largest manufacturers of Staffordshire pottery, "a firm that has done more to spread the knowledge and enhance the reputation of British ceramic art than any other manufacturer", exporting across Europe as far as Russia, and to the Americas. They are especially associated with this "dry-bodied" (unglazed) stoneware - Jasperware - and in particular this "Wedgwood blue" and white, always much the most popular colors.
This piece is the C.H. Johnson Bicentennial edition (1790-1990) - and features an intricately detailed carved 1790 Johnson Machinery Ltd 'hand weaving wire cloth' scene.
