The word Claymore was once derived from the Gaelic word this means that “Great Sword” but is pronounced more like Clymore. Frequently the word was once used as a battle cry in Scotland and England back between 15th and 17th centuries. Later, the Claymore sword became a symbol of status for raw might and battle prowess within the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Claymore was originally a two-handed sword, with a cross guard that sloped downward, or towards the blade, with four-lobed shapes known as quatrefoils at the ends, and extensions onto the flat sides of the blade known as langets which were designed to lock the sword into the scabbard. The blades were straight and had cutting edges on both sides.
