He was just a prolific goal scorer that the Montreal Canadiens retired his number 9, in 1960, and in 1999 donated the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy to the NHL, which is now awarded annually to the league's regular season leading goal-scorer. Owing to his achievements, charisma and dominance, he is widely considered to be one of the greatest Hockey player of all time and one of the most fascinating athletes of the 20th Century.
